Daily Schedule

The Preschool follows the Halton Public School System schedule, operating during the fall and into early summer. We are closed during Christmas, March break and all statutory holidays. During inclement weather, the school may be closed. In case of teacher illness, a supply ECE will be provided.

Daily Routine:

Classes run Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.

9:00 -10:00 am - Arrival & Free Playtime

The children arrive and put their outerwear in the Cubby Room. Our teacher greets them in the classroom and helps them get settled for the morning. The remainder of the hour is spent in Free Playtime. Some of the activities may include: the play-dough centre, thematic craft table, painting and drawing easels, play kitchen, dramatic play centre, science table, building toys, Lego table, sorting centre, puzzle table, reading centre, train table, small toys and dollhouse. A few minutes before 10:00 am, the children sing the ‘clean up’ song and tidy up each play area with the duty parent and teacher.

10:00 - 10:20 am - Snack & Reading Time

The children sit together to enjoy a nutritious peanut free snack where they are guided in using good hygiene, manners and independence. After snack, they choose a book from the reading centre and read quietly.

10:20 - 11:00 am - Physical Play

Our gym is a large, safe and well equipped indoor space that provides an effective area for games and gross motor development. Older children who are able to ride tricycles and scooters are encouraged to wear their own helmets, which are kept at the school. This fosters a culture of recreational safety from an early age. At the end of Physical Play in the Gym, the children assist the duty parent and the teacher in putting all equipment away. During nice weather days, Physical Play is held outside in the field at the north end of the church.

11:00 - 11:30 am - Circle Time

The children assemble in a circle and our teacher leads them through songs, conversation & stories. At the end of Circle Time, the children are called one at a time to greet their parent or caregiver for pick up.
