School Tours

Educational Program
The Preschool has phased out its Theme-based Curriculum and embraced an Emergent Curriculum. An Emergent Curriculum is a child-directed and teacher facilitated approach to learning. It is a flexible and creative environment where the teacher observes the interest 'emerging' from the child and brainstorms possibilities for creative in-depth exploration of that interest. Children thrive in an environment where their interests are captured and explored. Crafts, songs, stories, field trips and visitors are designed to heighten the child’s awareness of themselves, the family, the community and our world. Activities to develop gross and fine motor skills, letter recognition & numeracy skills are also a feature of our Program. All toys are cleaned and rotated on a regular basis. East Plains Co-operative Preschool is a non-denominational school.
Our educational program is one of inclusivity whereby children of all levels of development are integrated and supported. We are members of Quality First and work closely with The Halton Resource Connection to facilitate additional support systems needed for children who require enhanced curriculum resources.
Program Specifics & Fees
East Plains Co-operative Preschool is for children between the ages of 18 months to 2 ½ years (Toddler) and 31 months to 5 years (Preschool). We offer 2, 3, or 5 Day Programs, Monday to Friday from 9:00 am - 11:30 am. We are a wheelchair accessible facility. Children at all levels of development are integrated and supported.
If you are interested in subsidy for tuition, please contact the registrar for more information. The Region of Halton can assess your family for qualification.
Children are not required to be potty trained for programs.
2 Day Program (Recommended for Toddlers)
$160.00 per month - This program typically runs Monday/Wednesday OR Tuesday/Thursday 9-11:30 am
3 Day Program
$240.00 per month - this program runs Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9-11:30am
4 Day Program
$320.00 per month - this program runs Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9-11:30am
5 Day Program
$400.00 per month - this program runs Monday to Friday 9-11:30am
A one-time non-refundable registration fee of $40 per child is due with the registration application. This will hold a space for your child. Four $40 post-dated cheques are required. These cheques will only be cashed if a duty or job is missed or a general membership meeting is not attended. Any cheques not cashed will be returned at the end of the school year.
School Capacity
We have 13-16 Preschool spaces available for children who will be 31 months of age at the time of registration.
For those Toddler aged children who will be 18 months to 2 ½ years at the time of registration, we have up to 3 spaces available Monday/Wednesday AND Tuesday/Thursday.

The registration package consists of several forms that make up the complete registration package. You may print these forms and fill them in manually or download them and fill in the details directly then print. The Preschool requires these forms be submitted together with all post-dated cheques.
Applications are processed on a first come, first serve basis. Priority is given to children who have been in the program and their younger siblings and those enrolled in the 5 Day Program. When a program is fully enrolled, applicants will be held on a waiting list until an opening is available.
All programs may be subject to filling enrollment minimums.
Potty Training
Children are not required to be potty trained to attend the preschool. The classroom is equipped with a child friendly washroom so children who are potty trained are free to use this washroom whenever they need to. The school is also able to facilitate ongoing potty training once the child has reached that stage of development.
Allergies
The Preschool is an allergy aware school. We are peanut free and accommodate any food allergies and/or food sensitivities. Our teacher is fully trained in First Aid and in use of an EpiPen.
Parent Handbook
The Preschool has an information book which provides comprehensive information about parental responsibilities, guidelines for working with children, behaviour management, and procedural details as well as the administrative and governance components of the Preschool. Helmets During Physical Play
The Preschool participates in the Hamilton Helmet Initiative. During the Physical Play portion of the morning, children who are old enough to use the tricycles and scooters are required to wear a helmet. 88% of brain injuries are prevented by wearing a well-fitted helmet. The Preschool encourages a culture of recreational safety by having children wear helmets from an early age. For more information, please visit HHI.
